We are proud to share that , the INDiGO team in the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, has developed a baseline electrical power system for the INDiGO aircraft.
With no legacy electrical power system architecture to work with for a new aircraft design, the team worked through possible certification criteria to determine failure modes, and assessed how these influenced the electrical power system design. From this the high level requirements for the electrical power system were determined, and subsequently an initial electrical power system architecture derived. The next steps are to develop our in-house electrical power system sizing tool, and continue to work with partners in the Indigo team: first for the inclusion of the electrical power system in the full aircraft multi-domain optimisation, and to develop more detail in the electrical power system operation and electrical-mechanical interfaces in the drive train.
